Overview: In 2019, work began on the development of the AIFC Corporate Governance Principles, with assistance from The City UK and advised by Simon Osborne FCG, the former Chief Executive of ICSA, The Chartered Governance Institute. The Principles, and the associated Guidance, are designed to improve the capabilities and influence the mindsets of boards and individual directors and contribute to the sustainable long-term success of companies in Kazakhstan. During the session we will explore the evolution of corporate governance around the world, the principle tenets of corporate governance, the 13 AIFC Corporate Governance Principles, its applicability, and the training programmes that we have developed at the AIFC.

Alexander is an engineer and economist by training, was a BAEF Fellow at the Harvard Business School, and holds a PhD in Finance from the University of London, a Doctorate in International Relations from the Geneva School of Diplomacy, and a PhD in Complex Adaptive Systems from Cambridge University.
