AIFC Authority, AIFC Court and IAC have agreed to cooperate with law universities of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan

On December 9, 2021, the Astana International Financial Center Authority, the AIFC Court, the International Arbitration Center, Tashkent State University of Law (TSUL) and the M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University signed a memorandum of cooperation in the implementation of educational programmes and joint activities in Central Asia. This initiative is being implemented within the framework of the tasks of the AIFC for the development of human capital and training of professional cadre in the region.

Within the framework of cooperation, the Parties agreed to organize trainings and special courses on the law of the AIFC on the basis of the AIFC Academy of Law, KAZGUU and TSUL, the implementation of Pro Bono initiatives in the legal clinics of the Parties.

The cooperation is aimed at promoting the law of the AIFC and training future lawyers in the region.

During the visit of the TSUL management to the AIFC, the Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of the AIFC Authority Kosbayev Nurzhan, and Deputy Rector at the TSUL Rustambekov Islambek held a meeting where they discussed issues of cooperation between the TSUL and the AIFC Academy of Law.

The Astana International Financial Centre was created by the initiative of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Leader of the Nation, Nur-Sultan Nazarbayev as part of the “100 steps to implement five institutional reforms” national program. The Centre’s development strategy until 2025 was approved by the Management council of the AIFC during the council’s meeting on July 2, 2020. 

In accordance with the strategy, the vision of AIFC is in becoming the leading financial centre in the region that includes Central Asia, the Caucasus, EAEU countries, western China, Mongolia, and Eastern Europe. The mission of the AIFC is in assisting the sustainable and long-term development of the region. As the head of state Tokayev noted, “AIFC, with its unique opportunities, can act as a universal platform that connects the countries in the region”. The strategic directions for the sustainable development of the AIFC include the development of a circular economy, financial technologies, and “digital financial centre”.
